Amaravati Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said real welfare is brightening the lives of people and termed the pension distribution program as a step towards improving their living standards.

The prime minister made these remarks at a public meeting at Penumaka village in Guntur district after participating in the first social pension disbursement program of the new NDA government.

"This is the first step towards improving the standard of living of the people," Naidu said at the Penumaka Masjid center after personally handing over the pension money to Islavath Sai, Banavath Pamulyanayak and Banavath Sita at their hut.

Recalling that he took oath as CM for the fourth time with the blessings of the entire people, Naidu said the new government has launched the pension distribution scheme as a first step towards fulfilling the promises made to the people.

Vowing to focus on the poor, he said his dream is to see a society free of poverty and economic imbalances and urged his thinking to be innovative.

Furthermore, the CM pointed out that there is an immediate need to check the spiraling prices of all essential commodities and assured to fulfill the promises of filling vacant posts of teachers and establishing Anna Canteens, among others.

Renamed as 'NTR Bharosa Samajika Pension', the NDA government comprising the TDP, BJP and Janasena increased the state welfare pension scheme from Rs 3,000 per month provided during the previous YSRCP government to Rs 4,000 per month.

Earlier, as part of the programme, the Prime Minister visited Islavath Sai's cottage and chatted with the family members for some time and then personally handed over the pension money to three beneficiaries.

"I am sanctioning a house for you. We will build a house for you," Naidu told the family members, directing district officials to tie up with officials of the University Region Development Authority (CRDA) to build houses for eligible people in Penumaka. area.

Over a cup of tea, he highlighted the importance of education for family members and also entrepreneurship to supplement their income.

The state government has initiated the procedure to disburse Rs 7,000 as pension to the eligible beneficiaries, which includes the enhanced amount of Rs 1,000 each for April, May and June, along with the pension of Rs 4,000 for July.

The increase of Rs 1,000 in monthly pensions has increased the financial burden of the state government by Rs 819 million, while a similar amount during the previous three months has posed an additional burden of Rs 1,650 million.

The southern state will disburse Rs 4,408 crore in social pensions alone on Monday.

More than 65 lakh beneficiaries across 28 categories will benefit. The new government has also increased the pensions of eligible disabled people from Rs 3,000 per month to Rs 6,000 per month.
