Amaravati Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday praised the Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF) organization for bagging the Gulbenkian Humanity Prize 2024.

The Prime Minister noted that the APCNF model is unique as it improves the livelihoods of farmers, helps build resilience to climate change and provides healthier and more nutritious food.

“Delighted to know that Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF) has won the prestigious Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity 2024,” Naidu said in a post on social media platform X.

Noting that the award is a global recognition of APCNF's "innovative zero-budget natural farming model", Naidu recalled that it was launched in 2016 during his previous tenure as CM.

According to Naidu, APCNF's work has transformed "five lakh acres into organic farmland between 2016 and 2019".

The CM congratulated organic farmer Nagendramma, who received the award on behalf of APCNF from former German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

"I congratulate our sister farmer Nagendramma, who received the award on behalf of APCNF, which represents one million farmers of Andhra Pradesh who are on this incredible journey towards natural farming," he added.

APCNF uses farmyard manure, vermicompost, buffalo dung and other organic fertilizers to grow food.

Launched in 2020 by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the Gulbenkian Prize supports scalable solutions with national and global impact.

It also aims to overcome the greatest challenges facing humanity.

The jury for the 2024 edition of the award was chaired by Merkel and recognized youth mobilization, coalition building, the development of localized solutions and scientific research.
