New Delhi, Amul on Monday requested a female customer in Noida to return for further investigation an ice cream tub in which she claimed to have found centipedes and claimed to be looking for better quality dairy products in both India and global markets. Introduces the product.

A woman in Noida claimed to have found a centipede inside an ice cream tub she ordered through an instant delivery app, food safety officials said, adding that they have launched a probe into the matter.

In a post on X on June 15, a woman identifying herself as Deepa Devi shared a photo showing a worm inside an ice cream tub.

Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to a woman customer in Noida.

The Food Safety Department of Noida has started investigation into this matter.

Amul said in a statement that it immediately responded to the complaint on social media."We deeply regret the inconvenience this incident has caused them," the statement said.

Amul said that its team was continuously trying to contact the customer and he was allowed to meet after 9:30 pm on the same day (June 15).

“During our meeting with the customer, we had requested the customer to provide the said ice cream tub for investigation, unfortunately, the customer refused to hand over the same.

"Until the complaint pack is received back from the customer, it will be difficult for us to investigate the matter and hence comment specifically on this issue which also involves the integrity of the pack and supply chain," Amul said.

During the interaction, the customer was informed and assured about Amul's state-of-the-art ISO-certified plants, which are automated and undergo several stringent quality checks before offering any product for sale to the esteemed customers.Amul also invited the customer to visit their plant to assure them about the quality procedures being followed.
