Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], Amity University Bengaluru and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) together organized a workshop focusing on Artificial Intelligence.
, Data Analytics, and Astrobiology According to a press release, the event exemplifies the vision of Dr Ashok K Chauhan, Founder and Chairman of Amity Education Group, who aspires for Amity to become a major R&D and academic partner of ISRO , in which significant contribution can be made. The Space Research Sector workshop was attended by ISRO Chairman S Somnath, along with Dr Prakash Chauhan, Director of the National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC) in Hyderabad, and D Sudhir Kumar N, Director of Capacity Building and Public Outreach at ISRO. Other eminent scientists of ISRO are Dr. Ashok K. Chouhan virtually inaugurated the program by blessing and thanking the participants. Chancellor D Asim Chauhan, Dr. W Selvamurthy, President of Amity Science, Technology Innovation Foundation (ASTIF), Dr. AK Singh, Senior Vice President of Amity FU & Science Technology Innovation Association (AFSTIA), Dr. Neeraj Sharma were also present in the event.Deputy Director General of AFSTIA, Dr D Subhakar, Vice Chancellor of Amity University Bengaluru, Dr A W Santosh Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Amity University Mumbai, other notable scientists from various Amity campuses who are experts in AI, Data Sciences in Space, Science and Technology. Dr. Asim Chauhan, Chancellor of Astrobiology, welcomed the attendees and expressed his deep gratitude to T S Somnath for his invaluable presence and guidance. He highlighted the collaborative efforts aimed at aligning the goals of Amity and ISRO, appreciating the dedication of all involved in this initiative. Dr. W. Selvamurthy presented the significant contribution of Amity to space science and technology, “Amity Space Mission," highlighting projects like Amity Ground Station. in Dubai, Amity Center for Astrobiology at Amity University Mumbai, Amity Center of Ionosphere Studies at Amity University Chhattisgarh, and Amity Center for Artificial Intelligence at Amity Noida. He also celebrated the achievements of the students of Amity International School Noida, who have been awarded NASA three times. Dr. Selvamurthy won first prize in the Space Settlement Design Competition Dr. Selvamurthy concluded by reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "Self-reliant India" and Dr. Chauhan's mission to make Amity a leading R&D and academic partner. Dr. Prakash Chauhan, NRSC, ISRO, discussed the huge datasets available and the need to leverage advanced technologies like machine learning, AI, astrobiology for optimal utilization.S Somnath praised Amity University for taking the initiative to collaborate with ISRO, stressing the importance of understanding the industry challenges. Dr. Somnath said, “I believe that Amity University has the potential to build a strong ecosystem for space, science and technology”, focusing on translational research with concrete deliverables. He assured ISRO's support in identifying areas for collaboration and mutual development while recognizing the amity. The inaugural session included introduction of scientists from both ISRO and Amity. Dr. Sudhir Kumar N presented the ongoing research focusing on India's goal of moon landing by 2040, increasing payload capacity and capacity building for space. The mission workshop featured presentations and discussions on advances in AI, Data Science, Astrobiology, showcasing the collective research achievement and future directions of both the institutes.
