Mumbai: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be honored with the Lata Dinanat Mangeshkar Award, the Mangeshkar family announced on Tuesday.

The family and trust established this award in the memory of Lata Mangeshkar, who died on February 6, 2022 due to multiple organ failure.

81-year-old Bachchan will receive the honor on April 24, the memorial day of his father and theatre-music legend Dinanath Mangeshkar.

This award, known as Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award, is given every year to an individual who has made pioneering contributions towards the country, people and society.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was its first recipient, followed by Lata Mangeshkar's sister Asha Bhosle in 2023.A press release issued by the Mangeshka family said that music maestro AR Rahman will receive the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award for his contribution to Indian music.

The award will also be presented to non-profit organization Deepstumb Foundation Manobal for services in the field of social service, while Ashtavinayak Pratikha's "Ghalib" produced by Malhar and Vajreshwari will be recognized as the best play of the year.

Marathi writer Manjiri Phadke will receive the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award (Vagvilasini Award) for contribution to literature, while actor Randeep Hooda will be honored with a special award for contribution to cinema.

Veteran actors Ashok Saraf and Padmini Kolhapure will be honored with the Mast Dinanath Mangeshkar Award for their contribution to cinema.

The recipients also include Roopkumar Rathod for his contributions to the field of music, Bhau Torsekar for editorial services and Atul Parchure for theater and drama services.Hridaynath Mangeshkar will preside over the ceremony and the award winners will be honored by Asha Bhosle, the press release said.

"Since 1943 we have been celebrating this day without any failure. Lata Didi is no more with us but her blessings and inspiration are with us. We will continue to celebrate it and we are hoping that it happens every year after us too As Hridaynath Mangeshkar said in a program here, we have all crossed 90, we have established this trust Dinanath Smriti Pratisthan.Singer Roopkumar Rathod said that receiving the Deenanath Mangeshkar Award is bigger than getting an Oscar or a Grammy trophy.

He said, "I have been on the path of music for the last 45 years. For me, this award is no less than an Oscar or a Grammy, it is bigger than that... It is like attaining salvation after many births." .
