Large-scale violence was reported in Keshpur under Ghatal Lok Sabha constituency in West Midnapore district after BJP candidate and actor-turned-politician Hiran Chatterjee reached there.

A huge crowd of Trinamool Congress supporters stopped his car by felling trees and burning tires on the road. Supporters of the ruling party surrounded Chatterjee's vehicles and raised slogans of "Go back Hiran" and claimed that they would not allow Chatterjee to enter Keshpur under any circumstances.

A large contingent of state police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF personnel) had to work hard to control the aggressive crowd. Even a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) reached the spot and led his team in clearing the crowd.,

Eventually, after much debate, Chatterjee decided to turn his vehicle back and leave. “This is the real situation of West Bengal under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. They have turned the entire state into Pakistan,” Chatterjee said before leaving.

Similarly in Haldia under Tamluk Lok Sabha in East Midnapore district, BJP candidate and former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay faced similar resistance from ruling party workers as he was approaching the booth. However, CAPF personnel, who were part of the quick response team, dispersed the crowd with sticks and cleared the way for Gangopadhyay.According to records from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal, the highest turnout till 11 am was recorded at 39.21 in Ghatal, followed by 38.24 in Jhargram, 38.05 in Tamluk, 38.03 in Kanthi, 37.98 in Bishnupur, 37.98 in Bankur. Voting took place. 35.84, Medinipur 34.41 and Purulia was the lowest at 33.16.

During the first four hours, the CEO's office received 954 complaints, of which the maximum 84 came from CPI(M), followed by 82 from BJP. Trinamool Congress filed only two complaints.
