Mysuru, Local star Vidyatri Urs, who has been one of the leading amateurs in the Indian Golf Union circuit, will make her professional debut in her hometown.
The 18-year-old, who has won almost everything on the amateur circuit in India including the IGU All India Amateur, has joined the growing group of young professionals willing to embark on a tough journey in the sport.
Vidhatri has already tasted success on the WGAI Pro Circuit, winning in Bengaluru in 2023 and on other occasions as well.
Vidyatri is following in the footsteps of her cousin, another Mysuru star, Pranavi Urs, who turned professional a few years ago and now plays on the Ladies European Tour.
Vidyatri will open her first pro event in the company of Geetika Ahuja and Anaga Venkatesh.The Women's Golf Association, which has grown rapidly over the past decade and more, has also attracted three other newcomers to the pro ranks, Chitrangada Singh, Gauribi Bhowmik and Anvita Narendra. He has also played with distinction on the amateur circuit.
While a lot of attention is being given to the extremely talented Vidhatri, the experienced Sneha Singh, Amandeep Dral and Gaurika Bishnoi will also be seen in the field.
Amandeep, a former Hero Women's Indian Open runner-up, has since lost her LET card but has played at a few invitationals. She will be hoping to find her form again at the start of the second half of the Hero Women's Pro Golf Tour.Some other talented amateurs who are expected to turn professional soon, perhaps next season, include Saanvi Somu and Keertana Rajeev, who have both come close to victory recently.
The second phase of the Hero WPGT will resume after six events in the first three months of 2024.
In six events, Hitashi Bakshi won twice like Sneha Singh. While Sneha is in the field, Order of Merit leader, Hitashi is playing in the Singapore Ladies Masters this week.
Amandeep won one stage and the first stage in 2024 was won by amateur Nishna Patel.The Hero Order of Merit after six stages is led by Hitashi followed by Amandeep and 2023 OOM winners Sneha Singh and Khushi Khanijau. Jasmine Shekhar and Sahar Atwal, playing in Singapore this week, are placed fifth and sixth respectively.or ssc ssc
