Montauban (France): India's leading amateur Avani Prashant (71) bounced back with two birdies and seven pars on the back nine to shoot 1-under 71 and was T-14 after the opening day of the Montauban Ladies Open here.

Avni, the top amateur player on the Indian Golf Union roster, had two birdies and three bogeys as she turned the corner in 1 over. On the back nine, she birdied the 15th and 16th to move into par.

The other Indian in the field, Durga Nittur, shot 3-over 75. He had an interesting card with an eagle, two birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey. She was ranked T-53rd and would need a good second round.

The 54-hole stroke play competition will see the cut between the top 45 professionals and ties after 36 holes

Australia's Kelsey Bennett shot a personal best of nine-under-par, 63, at the LET Access Series.

Four shots behind Bennett is England's Amy Taylor, who fired a flawless round of five birdies and finished the first round at five-under-par 67.

Norway's Caroline Lund and Austria's Katharina Mühlbauer are tied for third place at four-under-par. or ayg tap
