Bengaluru, A case of alleged sexual abuse of a party worker against JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for investigation, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said on Sunday.

Hours earlier, Suraj Revanna, brother of former MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexual abuse of several women, was arrested in Hassan on charges of "unnatural offences" against him, police sources said.

He was booked on Saturday for allegedly sexually abusing a party worker a few days ago and has been booked under different sections of the IPC, including 'unnatural offences'.

"The case registered at Holenarasipura Rural Police Station of Hassan district under sections 377, 342, 506, 34 IPC is transferred to the CID for further investigation with immediate effect. The Superintendent of Police of Hassan district should send the case file to the concerned IO (Investigation Officer) for personal delivery to the CID Investigation Officer, he said.

Speaking to reporters, Home Minister Parameshwara said that following the complaint, the police registered an FIR, assured Suraj Revanna and the investigation is continuing.

The case is being handed over to the CID, he said, adding that "a number of similar cases were handed over to the CID, this one is also being handed over to the CID."

Regarding Suraj Revanna's complaint, he said "all necessary action will be taken in this regard."

On Suraj Revanna alleging a conspiracy against his family, Parameshwara said, "A complaint has come, based on it all necessary action is being taken in accordance with the law. Apart from that, I am not aware of any political conspiracy that he has alleged. "

Suraj was interrogated at the Cyber, Economic and Narcotics Crimes (CEN) police station in Hassan overnight, before being arrested this morning, sources said, adding that he was then taken to the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS). ) for a medical examination.

A 27-year-old man had complained to the police that Suraj Revanna, the elder son of Holenarasipura MLA H D Revanna, sexually abused him at his Ghannikada farmhouse on June 16.

Based on the complaint, the Holenarasipura police registered a case against the JD(S) MLC under Sections 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC late on Saturday morning. evening.

However, Suraj Revanna (37), grandson of former chief minister H D Deve Gowda and nephew of Union minister H D Kumaraswamy, has categorically refuted the allegation. Suraj had also alleged that the man had filed a false complaint against him in an attempt to extort Rs 5 million from him.

On Friday, police registered an extortion case against the JD(S) worker following a complaint filed by Shivakumar, a close aide of Suraj Revanna.

Shivakumar had alleged that the party worker was trying to extort money from Suraj Revanna by threatening to file a false case of sexual assault against him.

It has been alleged that while the man demanded Rs 5 million from Suraj Revanna, he later reduced it to Rs 2 million.

Suraj's brother and former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna is in police custody for allegedly sexually assaulting several women and was arrested upon his return from Germany last month.

Prajwal, who lost the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, was arrested on May 31 soon after returning from Germany, where he took refuge after cases of rape and intimidation were registered against him.

His father H D Revanna and his mother Bhavani are out on bail. They have been accused of kidnapping and holding an alleged victim of the sexual assault of his son Prajwal.
