Mumbai/New Delhi, Playback singer Alka Yagnik has revealed that she was diagnosed with a rare hearing disorder a few weeks ago, which she says came as a "sudden, big shock", which she says she has recovered from completely. She was unknown.

In a post on Instagram on Monday night, Yagnik, 58, said he has been diagnosed with "sensory nerve hearing loss" due to a viral attack.

"To all my fans, friends, followers and well-wishers. A few weeks ago, when I stepped out of a flight, I suddenly realized that I couldn't hear anything. I gathered some courage in the weeks following this episode. , I wish I am now breaking my silence for all my friends and well-wishers who have been asking me why I am missing out on action. The two-time National Award winner wrote, "My doctors have diagnosed it as a rare sensorineural hearing loss caused by a viral attack... This sudden, massive shock has left me completely clueless."

As soon as this news spread, questions started arising as to what sudden shock might have happened to one of the most famous singers of Bollywood and what would happen next.

Dr Suresh Singh Naruka, senior consultant, ENT, Delhi's Apollo Hospital, said the situation is reversible.

"The sooner you see a doctor and start treatment, the more likely you are to get your limb back," Naruka said.

Yagnik, popular for songs like 'Ek Do Teen', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' and 'Gali Mein Aaj Chand Nikla', asked his fans and followers to send their good wishes and include him in their prayers. In his post, he also cautioned people against listening to "too loud music and headphones."

“One day, I want to share the health hazards of my professional life. With all your love and support I look forward to rearranging my life and getting back to you soon. Yours in this important time The support and understanding will mean a lot to me," she said.

Naruka said, like any other organ, the ear can also get damaged, which can lead to sudden loss of hearing.“Sudden failure of the ears is called sudden sensorineural hearing loss… Viruses are one such cause.

"Sometimes, for no reason or perhaps due to poor blood supply, someone may have sudden hearing loss... There are many reasons why someone may suddenly have hearing loss, be it virus, idiopathic (unknown cause), or sometimes tumor. Organ failure can occur. Sometimes severe hearing loss occurs in one or both ears," Naruka said.

If it is sudden hearing loss, the standard regimen is to give steroids.

“It can be given orally and intratympanically, in which case steroid injections are given directly into the ear to re-stimulate the organ."Then, there's hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which treats medical conditions by supplying 100 percent oxygen with slightly higher pressure inside a special chamber," Naruka said.

When asked whether Yagnik's condition worsened due to excessive exposure to sound as a singer, Naruka said that suddenly losing the ability to hear cannot be career-specific.

“We perceive the world with three senses: hearing, sight, and touch. These are followed by the other two senses of taste and smell, but they are not as important as the first three. To communicate better in the world, we need good hearing. Requires good sense of sight and touch.,

However, as a precaution, Naruka asked people to avoid noise pollution or shock.

He said, "Prolonged use of hearing devices like Bluetooth, iPod and loudspeakers can cause sudden hearing loss. Viral fever and/or ear infection can cause hearing loss. We "Exposure to sound should definitely be avoided."
