Lucknow, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday alleged that farmers, youth and others in the BJP government are being harassed by moneylenders and are forced to commit suicide.

In a statement issued from the Samajwadi Party (SP) headquarters, Yadav said, "Farmers and youth are upset due to the wrong policies of the BJP government. Farmers are not getting the right price for their crops. The cost of farming is increasing." Due to which farmers are drowning in debt.”

The SP chief alleged that a young farmer in Etawah committed suicide after being troubled by the harassment of moneylenders. He also said that during the 10-year tenure of the BJP government, more than one lakh farmers have committed suicide due to inflation and debt.

He was referring to a farmer from Chauviya police station area of ​​Etawah district, who allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in his field due to his inability to repay the loan.

Chauviya police station in-charge inspector (SHO) Mansoor Ahmed said that Vikas Jatav (30) committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in his field on Thursday night in a village in the police station area.

The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh alleged that farmers, youth and others are being harassed by moneylenders in the BJP government. He said that people are forced to commit suicide due to the problems created by moneylenders.

"The policies of the BJP government are anti-poor and anti-farmer and are designed for the capitalists," he said.

Yadav said that there is terror of moneylenders in the entire state under the BJP government.
