In New Delhi [India], an MoU was signed between Airbus and Vadodara-based Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, and as part of it they committed to launch a Btech course on aeronautical engineering for meritorious and underprivileged engineering students.

The first batch has an enrollment of 40 students, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who attended the event, told reporters. 33 percent of these scholarships are reserved for female students.

Airbus will facilitate tuition and boarding fees worth Rs 2.5 lakh per year per student for 40 students, Union Minister for Railways and Electronics and Information Ashwini Vaishnaw said.

The minister said the students will receive internships and mentoring from the aerospace company Airbus.

This program aims to provide adequate skills and education to Indian students under the new education policy, Vaishnaw told reporters after the launch event of the programme.

This will be a unique success story of the Government of India's 'Skill India' programme," said Remi Maillard, President and CEO of Airbus India and South Asia.

Also in September 2023, Airbus, a global aerospace industry, and Vadodara-based Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a partnership that includes development of academic curricula, faculty, expertise industrial, training and scholarships and collaboration with international institutes.

Airbus shares a relationship of collaboration and symbiotic growth with India for more than 50 years. Together with its supply chain, Airbus supports almost 10,000 jobs in India.

The C295 final assembly line being built in Vadodara is an example of this commitment as it is the first private sector 'Make in India' aerospace program involving the development of a complete industrial ecosystem in the country. Airbus has developed pilot training capabilities in Gurgaon and maintenance training in Bengaluru.

The collaboration with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya is expected to provide additional support in creating a skilled workforce for the country's burgeoning aerospace sector.

Airbus said it will also implement technological solutions to facilitate training and research programs that will improve the employability of GSV students.

In addition, Airbus and GSV will appoint a visiting professor who will enable the establishment of the Center of Excellence and will also support the development of undergraduate and postgraduate aerospace programs as well as short-term executive programs such as: Safety Management, Data Analysis flight. and Air Cargo Management, for aviation professionals.
