An Air India flight from New Delhi, the national capital, to Vancouver, which was scheduled to take off early on Saturday morning, faced extreme delays due to technical problems.

The airline said the flight has been rescheduled and is now expected to depart early Sunday morning.

This is the second case of an Air India ultra long haul flight being delayed for a long time, in a span of three days. After a delay of over 30 hours, the airline's Delhi-San Francisco flight, which was originally scheduled to depart around 1530 hrs on Thursday, took off at 2155 hrs on Friday.

"AI185 was planned to operate to Delhi-Vancouver on June 1 but was subsequently postponed due to technical issues and the crew coming under mandatory flight duty time limit," an Air India spokesperson said in a statement on Saturday. was delayed."

The spokesperson said the flight is expected to depart early in the morning on June 2 and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the operational disruption.

The flight was originally scheduled to depart at approximately 0530 on Saturday.

Information regarding the number of passengers was not immediately available.

"Guests were offered hotel accommodations and a full refund with the option of cancellation and complimentary rescheduling to another date," the spokesperson said.

On Friday, aviation regulator DGCA issued a show cause notice to Air India for delay in some flights and failure to take proper care of passengers.

The show cause notice had mentioned excessive delays of two international flights - AI 183 from Delhi to San Francisco on May 30 and AI 179 from Mumbai to San Francisco on May 24.
