Mumbai: Struggling with cabin crew shortage, Air India Express on Thursday canceled 74 flights and said it will operate services on 20 of its routes to minimize disruption.

A section of cabin crew have reported sick in protest against alleged mismanagement at the airline, resulting in the cancellation of over 90 flights since Tuesday night.

"We will operate 292 flights today. We have mobilized all resources and AI India will support us by operating on 20 of our routes. However, 74 of your flights have been canceled and we urge our booked guests to check their Fly with us before departure to the airport due to the disruption,” the airline said in a statement.

If their flight is canceled or delayed by more than three hours, Carey said passengers can opt for a full refund or reschedule to a later date at no charge.

The number of canceled flights is 74 which is about 20 percent of the airline's scheduled daily flights.

Earlier in the day, sources said the airline has issued dismissal notices to 25 cabin crew members who reported sick and asked others to report back to duty by 4 pm on Thursday.

In this backdrop, Air India Express said it is taking appropriate action against certain individuals.

It added, "While we will continue to engage with our cabin crew colleagues with a commitment to address any concerns, we are taking appropriate action against certain individuals as their actions caused serious inconvenience to thousands of our guests." Is."
