New Delhi [India], All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on Wednesday signed an MoU with the Center for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP) and the AICTE-Inter-Institutional Biomedical Research Institute to catalyze interdisciplinary education. Innovation Program (IBIP) launched. The MoU was exchanged between Rajeev Kumar, Member Secretary, AICTE and Taslimarif Sayed, CEO and Director, C-Camp, at the AICTE Headquarters in New Delhi. AICTE Chairman TG Seetharam launched AICTE-Inter-Institutional. Biomedica Innovation Program (IBIP), to promote education, research and innovation through facilitated, forged and focused interactions between medical and engineering institutions. AICTE-IBIP program is a collaborative effort of AICTE and C-CAMP to promote accessible, affordable and quality health care.Improving health and lives of all, the program aims to facilitate engineering and medical graduates, postgraduates and faculty members from the medical field to jointly work on challenges, besides providing multidisciplinary education and research, this initiative Will also inspire and prepare them. For entrepreneurship, especially in the healthcare sector, the program will also provide a structured bio-entrepreneurship didactic course online, with Health Sector Skills Council accreditation for the participants. Launching the programme, the AICTE Chairman highlighted, “Collaboration between engineering and medical students will foster creativity, innovation, and deep understanding of complex challenges in healthcare. By leveraging their complementary skills and knowledge, both the disciplines will Students can develop impactful solutions that improve patient care and advance the field of medicine.The Biomedical Innovation Program provides a platform for engineering and medical students to collaborate and work on interdisciplinary projects to address real-world health care challenges. "Under IBIP, AICTE will provide a grant-in-aid of Rs 10 lakh for the growth and contribution of the institute. All institutes selected for AICTE-IBIP must implement at least 1 idea/innovation to address the challenges posed by the health care sector. By becoming part of a network, all the approved projects will learn from each other, collaborate and enhance their performance. Ravi Nair, Program Director, Inter-Institutional Biomedical Innovation Program said that C-Camp, through its flagship programme, will mediate, support AICTE-IBIP and organize an awareness program to inform the faculty and students of medical and engineering institutions about the benefits of inter-specialty teamwork and the possibilities of innovation and entrepreneurship in India.
