New Delhi, All India Chess Federation President Nitin Narang on Saturday announced a budget of Rs 65 crore to take 'Indian Chess' and its ecosystem to unparalleled heights.

After a meeting late on Saturday evening, decisions were taken on a number of initiatives including financial and institutional support for grassroots players as well as professional players.

It will also include the launch of two special programs – AICF Pro and AICF Popular – to promote chess on a large scale across the country. Other proposals discussed during the meeting include a Chess Development Fund, sports contracts at various levels and coaching centers. This included introducing strong financial support, financially supporting the District and State Associations, setting up a state-of-the-art National Chess Arena (NCA). ) for specific levels of training and the AICF rating system.Some of the major initiatives launched by AICF are given below:

'One Nation, One Registration' – an innovative online platform that will facilitate seamless registration for players with unique login credentials across state associations at no cost to increase participation.AICF is offering sportspersons from Under-7 to Under-19 age groups It will come up with a two-year contract for national-level players, in which funds ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000 will be distributed to players through direct benefit transfer under the respective categories.

'Cash Prize for Top 20 Chess Players' - This is to recognize and reward excellence in chess, a cash prize is allotted to the top 10 male and female players of India based on their FIDE ranking. The top five men's and women's players will each get Rs 25,00,000, while the players ranked sixth to 10th will each be awarded Rs 12,50,000.

Financially supporting State Associations – AICF will commit over three years – Year 1: Rs 12,50,000; Year 2: Rs 2,50,000; Year 3: Rs 15,00,000. Women in Chess – Aims to increase inclusivity and opportunity for women in chess by expanding the Smart Girl program with a minimum of 50 annual events, each worth Rs 1,00,000 A grant of Rs.33% reservation for women in several key sectors further strengthens this commitment.

Empowering and encouraging chess content creators – aims to nurture a thriving community of chess content creators to enhance chess content creation by collaborating with YouTubers, influencers, streamers and new ones through mentorship from established content creators. National Chess Awards and Development Conference – a gathering of industry leaders and universities to advance chess through strategic workshops and discussions to honor exceptional coaches and players as well as recognize significant contributions to the sport and social development. To bring together.Corporate Chess League – This is an innovative step where AICF will allot corporates to host AICF-rated tournaments by becoming members.

Social Initiatives of the AICF – Aim to advance the social agenda using chess.Chess Development Fund – This will support initiatives such as apprentice training programs, coach certification and outreach efforts, including workshops and conferences. A Management Board – This will be appointed by the AICF President and will include experienced corporate professionals from various fields.

Apart from the above initiatives, Narang said challenges like integration of chess in the school curriculum, chess in the education system, identification of talent nurturing, strengthening of grassroots academies and training institutes and sustainability of the AICF will also be addressed.
