The AIADMK leader and Gudalur MLA said, "The draft of the proposed elephant corridor was issued by Tamil Nadu forest officials without considering the problems of families living in the corridor areas, and if implemented it will force our farmers to relocate from the region." It has to happen." Pon Jayaseelan speaking to IANS.

P.M. Manoharan, a farmer from Gudalur, told IANS, “The proposed elephant corridor is going to create big problems for us. If the forest department implements this draft, 37,856 houses will be affected.

In the draft report, the Tamil Nadu forest department has listed 42 elephant corridors, of which 31 are in Gudalur alone.

Speaking to IANS, Pon Jayaseelan said, “We want to remove all the places marked as elephant corridors in Gudalur. If the government does not relent, we will protest strongly.

He also said that political parties like BJP, NTK and SDPI have agreed to join the protests in Gudalur.

It is noteworthy that the people of Gudalur have waved black flags in front of their homes and business establishments in protest against the draft report.

However, Tamil Nadu Forest Department officials denied relocation of families to enforce elephant corridors. Officials said the elephant corridor will be a narrow stretch of land and will not cause any hindrance to families living in the areas designated as elephant corridors.
