New Delhi: Integration of artificial intelligence with drone technology enhances capabilities, efficiency and operational intelligence such as autonomous navigation, real-time data processing and advanced analytics, the survey said.

A recent survey conducted by NexGen Exhibition, organizer of the Drone International Expo, has revealed that India's AI mission will significantly boost the growth of the Indian drone sector, it said in a statement on Wednesday.

The survey reached out to over 150 drone manufacturing companies serving 11 cities – Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, Pune Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Gurugram and Coimbatore.

Additionally, it highlighted India's potential to become a global leader in drone technology and innovation, providing an overview of current trends, challenges and future opportunities in the Indian drone sector.

It said the India AI Mission, an ambitious government initiative aimed at using artificial intelligence (AI) in various sectors, is set to be a major catalyst for the Indian drone industry.“The integration of AI with drone technology can enhance capabilities, efficiency and operational intelligence, such as autonomous navigation real-time data processing and advanced analytics,” it says.

The survey highlighted the government's efforts to develop a strong domestic manufacturing ecosystem.

“India’s AI mission and other favorable government policies are game changers for the Indian drone sector,” Aadhar Bansal, director of Nexgen Exhibitions, said in the statement.

“By promoting technological innovation and a supportive environment for domestic manufacturing, India is on its way to becoming a leader in the global drone market,” Bansal said.

Participating companies view the favorable policies over the past few years as a positive step towards self-reliance, which is expected to increase domestic manufacturing capabilities and job creation within the region.The survey discussed the need for the Indian drone sector to focus on certain technological advancements to compete with global companies.

Drone International Expo 2024, to be held in the national capital on July 4-5, is India's only dedicated and longest exhibition for drones, anti-drones, LiDAR geospatial and unmanned systems (land and water), AI and other future technologies.
