AHMEDABAD: The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport in Gujarat's Ahmedabad has been upgraded from Level-2 to Level-3 accreditation by the Airports Council International (ACI) for better customer experience, an official said on Thursday.

A release from the airport management said this comes as part of a multi-tier recognition program developed by ACI to guide airports towards achieving excellence in customer experience management.

"The accreditation is awarded on the basis of the airport's customer experience, which has been upgraded from Level 2 to Level 3. Level-3 accreditation SVPI Airports is recognized for its excellence in airport culture, governance, operational improvements, measurement, customer strategy and Provided on parameters such as customer understanding,” the release said.

Detailing the efforts made by the airport management to enhance the customer experience, the release said the number of retail and food counters has more than doubled in a year, giving passengers a better mix and choices, Whereas technology like Digi Yatra has been incorporated. Passengers were being helped by the introduction of self-baggage drop and automated cleaning systems and e-gates using 'Made in India' robots.

"City airport teams are identifying opportunities to better serve passengers. Based on observations and passenger requirements, a number of changes have been made over the years. Dedicated meeting and reception areas in the forecourt, increased pick up And drop lanes as well as streamlined transportation services were developed based on passenger feedback,” the release said.
