Mumbai: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday met Nationalist Congress Party (SP) president Sharad Pawar during her first visit to Mumbai since the Lok Sabha election results were declared more than a month ago.

Trinamool Congress chief Banerjee met Pawar at his residence 'Silver Oak' in south Mumbai.

The Trinamool Congress leader, who is on a one-day visit to Mumbai, earlier met Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray at his residence "Matoshree" in Bandra.

Trinamool Congress, NCP (SP) and Shiv Sena (UBT) are constituents of the opposition India faction.

This was Banerjee's first visit to Mumbai after the June 4 Lok Sabha results, in which the India Bloc performed better than expected.

In Maharashtra, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) won 30 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats, defeating the ruling Mahayuti, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP.

MVA constituents including Congress are members of the India Alliance at the national level.
