Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Working Committee has reposed confidence in the leadership of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal following a revolt by a faction of SAD leaders against the party chief, demanding a change in leadership after the party's fall. a severe beating in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

On microblogging site of Panth. The committee asks the president to lead efforts to expose conspiracies against the party, Panth and Punjab.”

This comes after a section of senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders on Tuesday rebelled against party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and passed a resolution demanding that he resign as party chief following the Akali Dal debacle in Lok Sabha elections. This is a big setback for Badal, who is grappling with internal dissent. The rift became evident on Tuesday when one section held a meeting to ask for Badal's resignation and the other confided in him.

Senior leaders including Parminder Singh Dhindsa and Bidi Jagir Kaur among others launched a revolt against party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal demanding a change in leadership.

On Wednesday, SAD Delhi unit president Paramjit Singh Sarna criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating that "and vowed that the BJP's attempts to undermine the Shiromani Akali Dal, a party rooted in the Sikh martyrdom, were successful." Speaking to the media, Sarna said, "I have given a written statement. The BJP can take any action they want against me. If they (the BJP) think it is a false allegation, they will. I call for a debate and "This will prove that this is Operation Lotus. The BJP wants to weaken and destroy all regional parties. "We will not allow that to happen."

Reacting to the same, Shiromani Akali Dal MP and party chief Sukhbir Badal's wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal said, "The entire Shiromani Akali Dal is united and supports Sukhbir Badal. Some of the BJP stooges are trying to "They want to do the same thing they did in Maharashtra."

"SAD is united and they are going to fail. Of the 117 leaders, only 5 are against Sukhbir Badal, while 112 leaders are with the party and Sukhbir Badal," he said. Rebel leader Parminder Singh Dhindsa held a meeting yesterday in Jalandhar in which workers and senior leaders openly expressed their opinions to revive the party.

Dhindsa said leaders and workers expressed concern over the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, in which out of the 13 parliamentary states of Punjab, the SAD managed to win only one seat. The Bathinda Lok Sabha seat was retained by Badal's wife Harsimrat.

According to former Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur, whenever they tried to discuss something with Badal, he would not listen to them. "There was an argument about what we have lost and gained in recent times. All supporters of the SAD (Shiromani Akali Dal) are worried about how to get out of the situation we are in. We have tried to talk to the party chief (Sukhbir Singh Badal) but he never listens to us. He does not try to rectify the shortcomings. If SAD is wanted to be strengthened, then we should all sit together and discuss. We will go to the Akal Takht Sahib on July 1 and apologize for the losses suffered due to our silence," Kaur told ANI.

Akali Dal leader Daljit Singh Cheema, in a press conference yesterday, said the SAD is analyzing and introspecting the comments.

"In a democracy, there is always a difference of opinion. If one or two people have a different opinion, then it is not a revolt, but there is a system. The party analysis and introspection are still going on." Cheema said that a meeting of the party's working committee will be held today. "If you express your opinion before the meeting, then it becomes doubtful. It seems planned in advance. It seems as if you are not interested in the improvement or elevation of the party and say something just because you wanted to. Otherwise, there was a "We have to wait. They should have participated and listened to what others had to say. After that, they could have presented their views,” Cheema said.

Speaking to ANI yesterday, Cheema said: "We are reviewing the reasons behind our performance in the Lok Sabha elections. SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal had earlier stated that if the party wanted, he would resign from the post of president, but all district presidents and electoral districts "The SAD is a very strong and disciplined party and we hope that it will advance strongly."

SAD party central committee member Balwinder Singh Bhundal, who held another meeting to support Sukhbir Singh Badal, said 99 per cent of the members are with him. "The way workers attended today's meeting shows that 99 per cent of Akali party members Dal members support party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal. Party chief does not change at the behest of a few people," Bhundal said. Bhundal further said that there was no question of forming any alliance with the BJP in the future.

"Neither now nor in the future will we make any compromise with the BJP. We will not take any action against those who try to show their solidarity by separating from the party. Our elders have built this party by making sacrifices. There is no need to separate those who are already talking about separate from the party or leave. It is their own desire and freedom,” the senior Akali Dal leader said.
