Florida [USA], After sealing a berth in the Super 8 of the ongoing T20 World Cup, USA qualified directly for the 2026 edition of the tournament.

T20 World Cup 2026 will be held in India and Sri Lanka. Being the hosts of this prestigious event, both the teams will qualify directly for the tournament. Seven other teams in the Super 8 will qualify directly for the tournament. Apart from these teams, the three highest-ranked teams in the ICC T20I rankings as of June 30, 2024 will qualify for the tournament.

According to the ICC, the teams finishing in the top 8 will get direct qualification for the next edition of the tournament. 20 teams will participate in the tournament, of which 12 will earn direct qualification and eight teams will be decided through the ICC Regional Qualifiers route.

The United States confirmed their qualification after their final group stage match against Ireland in Florida on Friday was abandoned due to rain.

The United States' confirmation in the next round meant that Pakistan and Ireland were eliminated from the tournament.

The other teams will begin their journey to determine the participating nations in the 2026 edition, with the ICC T20 World Cup Europe Sub-regional Qualifier A set to begin in Rome on Sunday.

The two venues in the Italian capital will host the 10 teams aiming to advance to the next round of qualification – the Europe Qualifiers, which will be held next year.

A total of 24 matches will be played in the seven-day competition at Roma Cricket Ground and Simar Cricket Ground. Italy will welcome Austria, France, Hungary, Isle of Man, Israel, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania and Turkey.

Similarly, sub-regional qualifiers will be held in other ICC regions in late 2024, with their respective regional finals also scheduled to be held in 2025.
