New Delhi [India]: The Congress-led opposition on Wednesday staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha as the Prime Minister was saying some "wrong things" during his reply to the 'motion of thanks' in the Upper House, Leader of Opposition in the House Mallikarjun Kharge said.

Addressing journalists immediately after the walkout, Kharge once again targeted the Prime Minister. Kharge said, "It is his habit to lie, mislead people and say things beyond the truth. I have just asked him that when he was speaking about the Constitution, you did not make the Constitution, you people were against it. "

He further said, "I just wanted to make it clear who was in favor of the Constitution and who was against it. The RSS had written in its editorial in 1950 that the bad thing about the Constitution is that it contains nothing about the history of India. There is nothing in it. They are against the Constitution." They have been against it from the beginning and they say they are in favor of it. Effigies of Ambedkar and Nehru were burnt. Now they are saying that we are against it.

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and NCP-SCP chief Sharad Pawar were among those who accompanied Kharge out during the Prime Minister's reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address.

Coming out in defense of Kharge, Pawar demanded that the Prime Minister or the Rajya Sabha should respect him as he is enjoying a constitutional post.

Pawar said, “He (Mallikarjun Kharge) is holding a constitutional post. Be it the PM or the Speaker of the House, it is their responsibility to respect them, but today all this has been ignored and that is why the entire opposition is with them, and that is why we walked out."
