Raipur, In the wake of the Mumbai hoarding tragedy, the Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) has directed all advertising agencies to submit composition reports of their hoardings installed in the Chhattisgarh capital, officials said on Wednesday.

A huge hoarding collapsed in Maharashtra capital Mumbai on Monday as the city was hit by a dust storm and unseasonal rain, killing at least 14 people and injuring several others.

RMC Commissioner Avinash Mishra chaired a meeting of directors of various advertising agencies and corporation officials on Tuesday and asked them to ensure that a Mumbai-like tragedy should not happen in Raipur, a public relations department official said.

He said Mishra directed directors and representatives of more than 90 advertising agencies to submit structural reports of the hoardings put up in the city to the RMC within a week.

Advertisement agencies will have to submit a certificate related to the structure check to the Town and Country Planning department of the RMC, the official said.

The Commissioner directed that no untoward incident should occur due to hoardings in Raipur and all necessary measures should be taken to prevent the hoardings from falling.

He said that effective implementation of advertisement policy in the jurisdiction of RMC was also discussed in the meeting.
