New Delhi [India], Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday attacked Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for scolding Congress MP Deepender Hooda and alleged that ruling party members were not stopped from raising unparliamentary and unconstitutional slogans in the House.

The reaction came after Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla scolded Congress member Deepender Hooda over some comments made by Shashi Tharoor after he raised 'Jai Hind, Jai Constitution' slogan after taking oath as a member of the House.

Targeting the Speaker on this issue, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra raised questions and asked whether no one can say 'Jai Constitution' in Parliament.

In a social media post on Twitter, he wrote, "Can't the slogan 'Jai Constitution' be raised in the Indian Parliament? Those in power have not been stopped from raising unparliamentary and unconstitutional slogans in the Parliament, but when an opposition MP ' Raised the slogan of 'Jai Constitution'. The anti-constitutional sentiment that emerged during the elections has now taken a new form, which wants to weaken our Constitution.

“The Constitution by which Parliament runs, the Constitution by which every member takes oath, the Constitution by which every citizen gets security of life and livelihood, will the same Constitution be opposed now to suppress the voice of the opposition? "

Earlier on Thursday, during the Lok Sabha session, when the Congress party raised slogans of 'Jai Constitution' after Tharoor took oath, Om Birla said, "He is already taking oath on the Constitution." The Congress MP) said, “You should not have raised objection to this.”

Responding to Hooda's remarks, the Speaker said, "Don't give me any advice as to what I should or should not object to."

The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha began on 24 June and will end on 3 July. The 264th session of Rajya Sabha will begin on June 27 and end on July 3.
