New Delhi, The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has discontinued the merit list for Class 10 and 12 examinations from this year to avoid unhealthy competition among students, board officials said on Monday.

The results of CISCE Class 10 and 12 board exams were declared on Monday morning, which saw a marginal increase in the pass percentage compared to last year.

CISCE Chief Executive and Secretary Joseph Emmanuel said, "We have stopped the practice of releasing merit lists for board examinations from this year. The move is aimed at avoiding unhealthy competition among students."

CBSE had stopped the practice of declaring the merit list for these two board classes last year.

During the pandemic, when board exams were not conducted due to school closures and students were marked using alternative assessment methods, both CBSE and CISCE had not released any merit list. However, this practice resumed after schools reopened.
