According to reports, the tech giant will soon begin commercial production through a partnership with Padgett Electronics, a subsidiary of Foxconn and Dixon Technologies.

The company has already started trial production in Tamil Nadu with Foxconn, a major maker of Apple devices.

When contacted, Google India did not immediately comment.

According to reports, Google may formally announce this development in H2. The base variant of the Pixel phone will be made by Dixon Technologies, while Foxconn will manufacture the Pro variant.

Commercial production will probably begin in September and exports may begin once production stabilises.

The move is in line with the government's production-linked incentive (PLI) programme, which aims to boost domestic manufacturing, the report said.

Meanwhile, Apple exported iPhones worth over Rs 16,500 crore in the first two months of the current financial year, which is 80 per cent of the total iPhone production/assembly in the country.

Foxconn led with about 65 percent of total exports.

For FY24, Apple saw total iPhone production of approximately $14 billion.

According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the company has increased iPhone production and one in seven iPhones in the world is now being manufactured in India.

According to India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) data, the PLI scheme has led to mobile phone production rising from Rs 18,900 crore in 2014-15 to an estimated Rs 4.10 lakh crore in FY 2024, registering a massive growth of 2,000 per cent. Went. ,
