New Delhi: Indian golf stars Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar on Monday qualified for the upcoming Paris Olympics through the world rankings.

The two women, along with Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar (men's category), form a four-member Indian team for the showpiece, which will be held from July 26 to August 11.

While this will be Aditi's third appearance at the Olympics which is the most for an Indian, Diksha will be competing for the second time.

For Sharma and Bhullar, this will be their first appearance at the Olympics.

India's best performance in the Olympics was by Aditi who finished fourth in Tokyo Games 2020.

Olympic entries are sent by the Indian Golf Association.

Qualification for the Olympics is determined by ranking, which is limited to 60 male and the same number of female players through the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).

The top 15 players in the OWGR are eligible for the Olympics, with a maximum of four golfers allowed from one country.

The Olympic Golf Ranking (OGR) includes a maximum of two qualifying players per country after the top 15, unless it has at least two golfers in the top 15.

Aditi, the highest ranked female player from India, is at 24th position, while Diksha has confirmed her position by securing 40th position.

Diksha is the only golfer to have participated in both the Olympics and Deaflympics, where she is a two-time medalist.

Diksha is the second Indian woman after Aditi to win the LET (Ladies European Tour) and the youngest to do so at the age of 18.
