Baharampur (WB), Congress West Bengal president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday defended Sam Pitroda's "racist" remarks, saying "there are dark skinned people like n****s in India too".

The senior Congress leader and the party's candidate from Baharampur Lok Sabha constituency echoed Pitroda, who courted controversy by comparing people of South and East Indian origin to Africans and Chinese respectively.

Chaudhary said, "According to the topography of our country, our regional characteristics are different. I am our Hindustan, we have Proto-Australian class, N***o class, Mongoloid class. There is no need to speak much on personal opinion. Not there." Run office here.

The Congress leader said, "This is what we are taught in schools. Not everyone looks the same. Some are black and some are white."

The controversy following Pitroda's remarks in view of the ongoing general elections led to his resignation as the President of India Overseas Congress.
