Kolkata, Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Sunday expressed hope that the seat-sharing alliance between his party and the Left Front will bring good results for both in West Bengal.

He said the results would show the effectiveness of the alliance between Congress and the Left Front.

"I am fully hopeful that the Congress-Left seat-sharing alliance will be very fruitful," Choudhary said while addressing a joint press conference with Left Front president Biman Bose.

Bose, a veteran CPI(M) leader, said he was confident that the Congress would transfer its votes to his candidates, just as Left supporters would transfer their votes to those fielded by the grand old party.

Chaudhary, who is contesting from Baharampur Lok Sabha seat in Murshidba district for the sixth consecutive time, questioned why the Trinamool Congress left the opposition Bharat faction in West Bengal.

"If the Congress-Left alliance brings good results in the current elections, TMC will fall apart like a pack of cards," he said.

West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC president, who is considered a staunch opponent of Mamata Banerjee) said, "Don't be surprised if TMC strikes a deal with BJP in future to save its government in Bengal."

In the 2019 general elections, the Congress had won two of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal, while the Left Front returned empty handed.
