New Delhi: Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone on Friday said its wholly owned subsidiary Adani International Ports Holdings Pte Ltd (AIPH) has entered into a 30-year agreement with Tanzania Ports Authority to take over the management of Container Terminal 2 at Dar es Salaam Port. Dar es Salaam Port is a gateway port well connected by road and railway, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) said in a statement.

The statement said East Africa Gateway Limited (EAGL) is incorporated as a joint venture between AIPH AD Ports Group and East Harbor Terminals Limited (EHTL).

It said APSEZ would be the controlling shareholder and would consolidate EAGL into its books.

According to the statement, the four-berth Container Terminal 2 has an annual cargo handling capacity of 1 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) and will handle 0.82 million TEU containers in 2023 – approximately 83 percent of Tanzania's total container volume.
