From Shimla, Mandi Lok Sabha seat, BJP candidate and actress Kangana Ranaut has defeated her rival Vikramaditya Singh of Congress by 74,755 votes.

Kangana, who is also the son of current state PWD minister and six-time chief minister Virbhadra Singh and state Congress chief Pratibha Singh, polled 5,37,002 votes as against 4,62,267 votes polled by Raja, from erstwhile Rampur state.

Kangana attributed her victory to the victory of the common man and the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During her election campaign, Kangana campaigned for "Hindutva", calling her Mandi's daughter and talked about the "magic of Modi".

The descendants of the erstwhile princely states have won from Mandi 13 times out of 19 and the Rampur royal family has won from this seat the maximum number of six times.

Ten candidates were in the fray from Mandi Lok Sabha seat, which has 13,77,173 voters. The vote percentage was 73.15 percent.
