Chitradurga (Karnataka): The police team probing the Renukaswamy murder case has recovered CCTV footage, which shows the suspected kidnapping of the victim by some associates of Kannada film star Darshan Thoogudeepa in this district headquarters town, sources said on Thursday.
Police sources said the footage shows a man, believed to be Renukaswamy, talking to someone inside the car and then getting into the vehicle.
Police suspect that the 34-year-old pharmacy employee, a fan of Darshan, was "lured" into accompanying his kidnappers.
“He was then taken straight to Bengaluru where he was tortured and killed,” a police officer said.
The 47-year-old actor, his close friend Pavitra Gowda and 13 of their associates have been arrested for the murder of Renukaswamy, whose body was found near a storm drain with multiple injury marks on June 9.
Sources said Darshan, popularly known as the "Challenging Star", was angry with Renukaswamy after he sent obscene messages and pictures to 33-year-old Gowda.
