Mumbai: The action drama series "Bad Cop" starring actor Gulshan Devaiah and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap will debut on Disney+Hotstar on June 21, the streaming service announced on Friday.

Described as a classic cops versus villains story with many twists and turns, the show is the first fantasy series from Fremantle India, known for producing reality shows such as "India's Got Talent" and "Indian Idol".

"Bad Cop" is directed by Aditya Dutt and Devaiah plays the role of Karan, a fierce cop who tries to track down a villain more powerful and deadlier than him, Kazbe (Kashyap), while also trying to protect his Also handles personal relationships.

Devaiah also plays Arjun, a clever thief, and all three find their destinies intertwining in the most unexpected way, changing the course of their lives forever.

The actor said the show will present an exciting story that "will not pretend to be anything other than entertainment.,

“What attracted me most towards the script was the character that I had to play. Karan and Arjun are identical twin brothers with completely different personalities and besides, one is a cop and the other is a crook.

"Karan and Arjun, although twin brothers, have very different approaches to life and are grappling with very different interpersonal problems. There is a big twist attached to their fate and I think that was the most challenging aspect of playing the character. That's where it started because I had to." He said in a statement, "There were a lot of action sequences, which I admit was not easy at all.,

Kashyap said that his character of Kazbe Mama is "kind of a villain".

"His aura is charismatic and deadly at the same time. Unlike my films, I was scared and skeptical while shooting the terrifying scenes. Kazbe is powerful, tough and I have learned qualities from many of the negative characters I have created, To prepare for this role.

“I didn't have any process for Kazbe, actually I was inspired by Nana Patekar of 'Parinda' and Irrfan Khan of 'Haasil'.I take the script before shooting and the dialogue writers will help me how to achieve it. This is what the director-actor said, "It's tough for me to play a negative character and I get it out of my system. I hope the audience enjoys me in this avatar."
