New Delhi: Police conducted multiple raids to arrest a man accused of murdering a senior citizen during a robbery at his house in northeast Delhi's Jaffrabad last month, officials said on Wednesday.

Police also recovered jewelery and gadgets, among other things, from Rajan Sharma, 24, who worked as a security guard at a construction site, he said.

On May 14, a man found his mother unconscious on the floor in her room. Police said she was bleeding profusely from her head and her gold earrings were missing.

The woman's son found that her mobile phone, smartwatch, purse full of cash and jewelery was also missing. He took his mother to GTB hospital but she died on May 18, a senior police officer said.

On June 6, the police received information that the accused was in Ghonda area of ​​Delhi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amit Goyal said raids were conducted in Ghonda, Maujpur as well as Jafrabad and Sharma was nabbed.

Two silver colored anklets, four gold colored bangles, a smartwatch, a mobile phone were recovered from him, the DCP said.

He said that a bike used for robbery and tools for vandalizing houses were also recovered.

Police said Sharma had already been arrested in a separate case as part of preventive action.
