New Delhi [India], the Centre's seven-member high-level committee formed to monitor transparency and examine the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA) will meet on Monday, Education Ministry sources said.

Earlier on Saturday, the Education Ministry announced the formation of a high-level expert committee to make recommendations on reforms in the examination process mechanism, improvements in data security protocols and the functioning of the NTA.

The seven-member committee, headed by former ISRO chairman Dr K. Radhakrishnan, will submit its report to the ministry in the next two months.

"To ensure transparent, smooth and fair conduct of examinations through the National Testing Agency (NTA), the Department of Higher Education and the Ministry of Education constituted a High Level Expert Committee to make recommendations on the reform of the mechanism for improving the examination process. in data security protocols and in the structure and operation of the National Testing Agency," the ministry said.

The NTA, which conducted the NEET-UG exams, is facing criticism for alleged irregularities in the exams. This led to several protests across the country, with protesters and political parties demanding the dissolution of the NTA. An unprecedented 67 candidates achieved a perfect score of 720 out of 720, adding to concerns.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday registered a criminal case over irregularities in the examination and formed special teams to investigate the matter.

According to the agency's FIR, certain "isolated incidents" occurred in some states during the conduct of NEET (UG) 2024 exam, which was held on May 5, 2024. The CBI has formed special teams to investigate the matter.

Meanwhile, NTA stated that its website and all its web portals are completely secure.

The NTA also dismissed allegations that the portals were compromised, calling them "incorrect and misleading."
