New Delhi [India], Nationalist Congress Party leader Praful Patel on Sunday said accepting the post of Minister of State (MoS) with Independent Charge in the Union Cabinet will be considered a demotion for him, as he was earlier a cabinet minister. He further said, “Today we have one Lok Sabha and one Rajya Sabha MP, but in the next 2-3 months we will have a total of 3 members in the Rajya Sabha and our number of MPs in the Parliament will be 4. Said we should be given a (cabinet ministry) seat.”

Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis also said that Praful Patel's name has been finalized for the post of Minister of Independent Charge (MoS), adding that in a coalition government, certain criteria are set for the post of minister, and those criteria are Cannot be changed for one party."We had offered the post of Minister with Independent Charge (MoS) to the NCP. Praful Patel's name was also final. But he will remain a Cabinet Minister. NCP leaders were of the opinion that he cannot be made a Minister of State in the coalition government.
