Latur, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Friday demanded suspension of a professor of the Government Industrial Training Institute at Ausa in Latur for allegedly exploiting and harassing students.
The RSS-affiliated student organization submitted a memorandum to the Resident Deputy Collector, in which they claimed that the professor used to make the students do household work and clean toilets etc. by threatening them of getting less marks.
A video of students cleaning garbage in a house, purportedly that of a professor, has gone viral on social media.
ABVP leader Sushant Ekorge claimed, "Students and parents have met the ITI principal who did not help and is supporting the professor. We want strict action."
Principal Indira Ranbhidkar said that after receiving complaints from students and parents, a memo was issued to the professor concerned.
Claiming that the professor had called him to fix the lights in his house, Ranbhidkar said, higher authorities would take action on the matter.
