RAWALPINDI: Fast bowler Muhammad Amir says he is feeling comfortable on his return to the Pakistan national team after four years and credits senior players including captain Babar Azam for giving him the confidence to play at the international level again.

Aamir retired from all international cricket at the end of 2020, unhappy with the attitude of his former coaches Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis, but has returned to the national team on the insistence of the current board set-up and management.

Amir, who took two wickets in the win over New Zealand on Saturday night, said he feels more fit and energetic now compared to when he retired.

The experienced southpaw fast bowler said that teams performed well when they had good bowling partnerships and he felt that playing with Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afrid was good for the Pakistan team.

He also appreciated the fact that the senior players of the team are trying their best to create a friendly and happy atmosphere in the dressing room, which will help the team prepare for the World Cup."I was also happy to see the way the players supported me on my return because there was pressure on me," he said.

He acknowledged Shaheen and Babar for their support.

"When you are playing for your country, you can't explain that feeling. Of course, there was pressure, because I was coming back after four years. Credit to the boys, Shaheen and Babar for the way they delivered. Goes to."I'm sure," Aamir said.

Speaking to the media at the Pindi Stadium after Pakistan's big win in the second T20 International against New Zealand on Saturday night, Aamir said that considering the kind of experience and talent the team has, it is better to be prepared for the poor performance in the World Cup in June. There should be no excuse for this.

"I am ready to play any role for Pakistan and I have really enjoyed playing for my country again after such a long time," he said.

Aamir is the only player from the Pakistan team in this series to have won not one but two ICC titles as a player.

He played a decisive role in helping Pakistan win the World T20 Cup final against Sri Lanka in England in 2009 and again against India at The Oval in the 2017 Champions Trophy. The series against New Zealand is Aamir's third chance at life as a Pakistan player as he was quickly reinstated into international cricket in late 2016, just months after completing his ban for his role in the 2010 spot-fixing scandal. .

At that time it seemed that Aamir's career was over. or at
