Jaipur: Hours after his arrest in a kidnapping and gang rape case, a 30-year-old man allegedly hanged himself inside a police lockup in Rajasthan's Beawa district. Officials gave this information on Friday.

The family of deceased Rakesh Seervi alleged that the police tortured him by keeping him in custody for five days.

However, the police said that Seervi was detained on Thursday and the arrest was also made on the same day.

Police said that the incident took place late on Thursday night at Jaitaran police station, where the man cut a blanket, made a noose out of it and hanged himself.

District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Narendra Singh Chaudhary said Seervi, a resident of Chawandiya Kalan village, was arrested on Thursday under sections 37D (gang rape), 365 (kidnapping) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code. Was.

Chaudhary said the accused was also involved in other cases, including rape, registered at various police stations.

Meanwhile, the brother of the deceased has accused the police of torturing him for five days.

The DSP said that the allegation made by Seervi's brother is being investigated and action will be taken against whoever is found guilty in the matter.
