New Delhi: A 42-year-old man was stabbed to death by four men after he allegedly objected to him consuming drugs near his grocery shop in Dwarka's Mohan Garden area, police said on Tuesday.

Police said that they received information about a stabbing incident from a private hospital in Janakpuri on Monday.

"A police team immediately reached the spot and found Chetan admitted with a knife wound on the right side of his stomach," a senior police officer said.

The victim's brother Nitin said that while he was inside the shop, Chetan was loading some goods on an e-rickshaw outside when four people came to the shop. Two of them entered the store while the rest waited outside, the officer said.

He said that the accused placed a knife on Nitin's neck and threatened to kill him, saying that his brother had stopped him from consuming drugs near the shop.

He told that seeing this, Chetan ran inside and tried to pull down the shutter but four people attacked him with knives and fled from the spot.

The police officer said that the condition of the victim is said to be stable and the search for the accused is on.
