Sources in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal said that the counting of votes will be done at 55 centres. There will be 418 counting rooms in these centres. The total number of counting tables will be 4,944.

The average number of counting rounds in these 55 counting centers will be 17, with the maximum and minimum number of rounds ranging between 9 to 23. A three-tier security layer will be kept in and around the counting centers in West Bengal.

The innermost level of security within the counting centers will be managed only by Central Armed Police Forces personnel and one company of CAPFs will be deployed at each such centre.The second and third tiers of security layer will be managed by state police forces which will also include personnel from the armed forces.

Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, has already appealed to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure that no member of the state police is allowed to go to the innermost security level under any circumstances. Go.

Section 144 will be imposed in the area within a radius of 200 meters. Most importantly, closed-circuit CCTV cameras will be installed at every counting center including the counting hall. The footage of these CCTV cameras will be kept safe for possible irregularities in vote counting in future.

The CPI(M) leadership has urged the ECI to ensure that no one can enter the counting centers with fake identity cards under any circumstances.The party has also requested the Commission to ensure the security of the counting agents inside the polling booth.

Counting of votes will be held for the by-elections held on two assembly seats of 24 Parganas district.

In the case of Baranagar, the by-election was necessitated after the resignation of former Trinamool Congress MLA Tapas Roy. Roy had resigned as MLA earlier this year before joining the BJP.This time he is BJP candidate from Kolkata-North Lok Sabha.
