Nashik: A 75-year-old man was allegedly burnt alive by his brother and two nephews over a property dispute in Nashik district of Maharashtra. Police gave this information on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Kacheshwar Mahadu Nagare, resident of Nandur Shivar near Thardi Sarole village of Niphad tehsil.

He had a dispute with his younger brother over ancestral land and a well in the village, a police officer said.

The brother and his two sons allegedly caught Nagare on Tuesday afternoon when he was working in the fields near his house, they poured diesel on him and set him on fire and fled the spot, the officer said.

Hearing Nagre's scream, his family members came out of the house and took him to the district hospital.

The officer said that the victim, who suffered 95 percent burns, died during treatment late on Tuesday night.

He said a case of murder has been registered at Niphad police station but no arrest has been made yet and investigation is ongoing.
