Kota (Rajasthan): A 75-year-old man was burnt alive in a fire caused by a short circuit at a wedding venue on Nainwan Road in Bundi City police station area. Police gave this information on Wednesday.

Two other people suffered minor burns and managed to escape, he said.

The police have registered a case of death due to negligence against the owner of the marriage garden and have initiated action to seize the venue.

Police said that the deceased person has been identified as Lal Mohammad, a resident of Todaraisingh in Tonk district, who had come to Bundi to attend the wedding of his two granddaughters Fiza and Rahnuma.

Bundi City DSP Amar Singh said that according to preliminary investigation, the fire was caused by a short circuit in the AC installed behind the wall where three tents were set up.

He said Lal Mohammed could not get out of the tent in time and suffered severe burns and was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Lal Mohammad and two others sustained minor burn injuries. However, they managed to escape in time, the DSP said.

He said that by the time the fire brigade vehicles extinguished the fire, all three tents were reduced to ashes.

On the complaint of the relatives of the deceased, the police have registered a case of death by negligence under sections 304 (A) and 285 of the IPC against the owner of the marriage garden, while the FSL team has been sent to the spot. He said that the police handed over the body of the deceased to his family after the post-mortem.
