KATHMANDU: At least 74 people have died and 80 others have been injured in rain-related incidents across Nepal in the past four weeks since the start of the monsoon season, a statement issued by the Nepal Police Headquarters on Monday said. Have become.

Central Police spokesperson Deputy Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki said that from June 10 to Monday, 74 people have died, 80 have been injured and five have gone missing in floods and landslides across the country.

Heavy rains and subsequent floods and landslides have caused extensive damage to property. So far 86 houses have been damaged due to landslides and floods.

Heavy rains have affected life across Nepal and 5,000 police personnel have been deployed for rescue and relief operations.

The statement said losses due to monsoon-related disasters amount to more than Rs 95 million.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has directed all state governments to give priority to the safety of lives affected by monsoon floods, landslides and floods.
