Thane: Police have arrested a 72-year-old man, a bakery owner, in Maharashtra's Thane district for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl, an official said.
He said the incident took place on the evening of April 30 when the victim had gone to a baker's shop located in Kalyan area to do some shopping.
The man lured the girl with chocolates, took her inside the shop and allegedly raped her, an official at Kalyan's MFC police station said on Saturday.
The accused also threatened to kill the girl if she told her parents about the crime.
The girl later informed her parents about the incident, who later lodged a police complaint, the officer said.
Police registered a case against the man on May 1 under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and arrested him on Saturday, he said.
