A police officer said 25 Rohingyas were arrested separately from a bus stand and Churaibari gate in Dharmanagar in North Tripura district on Thursday night.

The detained men told police that they entered Tripura from Bangladesh via Sonamura in Sepahijala district and Kailashahar in Unakoti district and intended to go to Guwahati by bus and then to Hyderabad by train in search of jobs.

The Rohingyas, who left their camps in Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh, had no valid travel documents before entering India illegally with the help of brokers, the official said.

Recall that in the last two months, about 100 Bangladeshi citizens, including women and children, have been arrested from Agartala Railway Station.

More than one million displaced Rohingya from Myanmar have been living in Cox's Bazar since 2017.

The chief minister, who also holds the home portfolio, held a meeting with top BSF and police officials on Thursday night and asked them to maintain tight vigil on the border and take appropriate measures, an official in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said on Friday. “CM Saha has expressed concern over the recent increase in infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals into Indian territory. He has directed the concerned authorities to take strict action against those involved in providing shelter and facilitating illegal border crossing,” the CMO officer said.
