Mumbai: At least six people sustained burn injuries in a fire that broke out at an industrial complex in Mumbai's Dharavi slum area on Tuesday. The Municipal Corporation officer gave this information.

The injured people were taken to the nearby civilian-run Sion Hospital where they are undergoing treatment. He said that his condition is said to be stable.



The fire broke out around 3.45 am in three-storey and four-storey buildings at Ashok Mill Compound in Kala Qila in Dharavi area, a civic official said.



At least five fire engines and other fire fighting vehicles including water tankers were rushed to the spot and efforts are being made to control the fire, the official said.

Another civic official said the fire was confined to wooden items and furniture, among other things.

A police officer said they learned that the fire had started from a textile unit in the industrial complex.



City police, civic ward staff, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) and ambulance reached the spot.



The cause of the fire has not been known yet.
