The floods hit the province's Shahrak, Dulina, Lal and Sarjangal districts and destroyed 2,000 residential houses and 2,500 shops, provincial police spokesman Abdulrahman Badres said.

Ghor Governor Abdul Wahid Hamas spokesman said seven other people died in Ghor during flash floods that hit the province and other areas of Afghanistan on May 10, Xinhua news agency reported.

Torrential rain and flooding also blocked roads into Ghor's neighboring provinces of Herat and Farah.
