According to police, on April 9, a woman reported that while she was traveling by metro train on the Blue Line between Rajiv Chowk metro station and Rajendra Place metro station, some unidentified persons stole her purse, which contained Rs 50,000 in cash. Were.

During the investigation, the police team scanned the CCTV cameras and tracked the movements of the victim till she boarded a metro train on the Blue Line towards Rajendra Place.

“Subsequently the CCTV footage of the metro bogie was examined and it became clear that five women in the crowd had surrounded the complainant. Surprisingly, two of them had infants in their arms and both were trying to distract the complainant,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro KPS Malhotra).

The police team then followed the movements of the suspects to RK Ashram Marg, where they were seen exiting the station and boarding an autorickshaw.

"On the basis of specific information, all the accused women were caught from Connaught Place area on April 10 when they were going towards Rajiv Chowk metro station," the DCP said.

On interrogation, the accused revealed that they all worked in a group with the common intention of committing theft at crowded metro stations.

“Each accused person had an assigned role in the group and everyone worked in unison. The accused mainly targeted female passengers. All the arrested accused were already found involved in several cases of theft inside metro trains,” the DCP said.
